Updating NAS music list in my qute Help
Posted by: maxbara on 15 January 2011
I have a question for the experts out there, I use my qute wired to my office lan where I use a Dlink 323 2TB NAS,
everithing is ok, but when I add/modify music in the NAs, the qute shows no change in the menu.
No way to modify the list, tried to shut down it, no way.. I have checked on the nas and each pc in the lan see the correct file list on the HDDs but the qute no, it's a little conservative... can you help?

Max,
you need to get the server to rescan the music files. I am not sure which media server is installed on the Dlink, or did you install Twonky media server?
The documentation for the NAS should help you. Such features are normally available through the web management interface for the NAS.

Thanks David,
No I use the NAS alone, as Upnp server, and use the qute directly not via PC, I tried to rescan the NAS by its sw and restarting it but the qute shows always the same directory tree.. I'm missing anything in my setup?

According to the manual you should be able to set a time period for Auto Refresh or press Refresh to force it to scan for new media in the UPnP AV Server Settings.
Maybe you have to wait for some time depending on speed of the NAS and size of the library.
If that doesn't work for you (as I think it should) maybe the best place to find an answer is on the DLink forum or from DLink support. People here may not have your type of NAS.

Dlink 323 2TB NAS
I've just looked at the manual available on the Dlink website. Page 34 sates ....
Auto Refresh
Set the device to auto refresh your media every 5 minutes up to every 24hrs. Select None to disable this feature.
Refresh
Click the Refresh button after adding new files to be used by UPnP AV compatible devices.Apologies if you've already tried these. If that doesn't work then it may be worth updating the firmware (latest is 1.09).

I'm back home,
first of all I done a refresh and it worked fine, but there isn't a Autorefresh mode.. I have 1,08 fw, Euro version, 1.09 is for USA I have no idea what the differences..

You may not want to hear this but it might be wise to investigate buying a NAS with a good audiophile track record. Have a look at QNAP, Thecus and AssetNAS/RipNAS.
I may be biased but I have never had any fun at all with DLink products.
