Putting my grumpy hat on, I've lost count of the number of box sets I've returned because they arrived damaged. Without a lining, the first insertion of the CD into the cardboard sleeve - i.e. before it even gets to you - often damages the surface. Why do they do this? It's taking the piss. Practically all my cardboard sleeve purchases are Japanese in origin. They know how to package CDs and understand that they are things of value. Good though the UK price is, it's just too risky. If distributors can't be bothered to get something to me in good condition I won't give them my money. Soft inner sleeves cost practically nothing compared to the medium and its packaging.

Yes I bought it, and I would say don't bother.

If you like the albums with 'The Strange Sensation' then the 80's stadium rock will probably not appeal, and probably vice-versa.

I can't comment on the audio quality, as I always play the single CD releases. The extras are nothing amazing. I listen to the odd track from the 80's solo albums from this, but it really isn't worth it for those.

Buy 'Dreamland' if you don't already have it, for me his best post Zeppelin album by a mile. 'Mighty ReArranger' is very good too, and his first solo album ' Pictures at Eleven' is OK.

Hope that helps.

Definitely worth spending a little of it on 'Dreamland' if you don't have that. With Strange Sensation he went back to a much rougher sound, lives they reminded me of album like Led Zeppelin III, and played quite a bit from then.

Their interpretations of the various artists songs they cover on 'Dreamland' are really superb.

JamieL_V2 has it spot on. 'Planty' has changed his style many times, since Zepp days - and has just done it again. 'Band Of Joy' is not 'Raising Sand PartII' (that was tried but didn't work so was abandoned.. Exit Ms Krauss...for now at least).

Pick from the individual CD's, which you think you might like. I will contribute a reccomendation for 'Fate Of Nations' - last one RP did before Mr Page turned up again.. Perhaps one of the most Zepp like of Mr Plant's efforts..

Of course, the Led Zepp stuff is very good too.. Winker

PS. I own all RP's output, good & not so...
