NFL - American Football 2010

Well that one died, but as the pre season has started, then I thought it time to wind it up again (even though it is still the cricket season - football/soccer please take note).

Well the annual soap opera that is Bret Favre is underway, but I think we are all very bored by it now. Many people think that if the playoff loss last year was his last game it would not represent his career, but I thought it did to a great extent, he was a gambler, and he often gambled too much.

Jimmy Jones is taking pot shots at McNabb as Redskins QB, I am with him as usual on that.

The Eagles still have my most hated player, so it is definitely the Cowboys and Giants for me in that division.

The Jets are on a reality show in the US, has anyone seen it? Apparently, from reports, there we a few are a few words like 'the' 'and' 'if' and 'now' which are not bleeped out from Rex Ryan's speeches. Darrelle Revis and The Jets are talking without the media posturing, I can't see him not being there.

Looks like the days of the NFL preview magazines have been superseded by the internet, unless anyone knows where to buy one these days.

I'll have ago at some pick in a week or two, I will say that without a doubt that the two Western Divisions will again be the weakest in each conference.

New Orleans will still be good, I think the Falcons too. Dallas I like the look of, and then there are a few solid teams Green Bay, probably Minnestota, Arizona, The Giants.

I think the best of the AFC have fallen back into the pack, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, New England, Baltimore, all look to be getting a bit long in the tooth at key positions, but have good coaches. Will Jim Caldwell actually have an expression on his face at some point this season?

The Chargers will win the West, and they are good, but I just find them like The Eagles of the last few years, do not quite have it to get through to the big game. I will try and not be so nasty about the AFC West teams this year, especially as Denver will be looking up at the division leaders from week 1.

Really looking forward to seeing if Tim Tebow can cut it in the NFL, obviously I hope so, and he could be very entertaining. As for the coach, I really do not see him pulling the team together and making anything of them.

I do think that in Jason Campbell The Raiders do finally have a good QB, and it is probably a good home for him after being kicked around at the Redskins for the last few years. They might well be a much better team.

Obviously there will be teams who surprise us by rising to the top, teams who disappoint, injuries, arguments.

I also wonder what we will see here in the UK. I am sure Channel 5 have ditched all sports, so Sky will probably have all the Sunday night games, and ESPN have picked up the Monday night games. I really hope that Mike Carlson will be with us this year, but if ESPN show the games in the way NASN did (US feed, lots of UK adverts in the US ad slots, and no studio coverage) then it is unlikely that he will find a home there. If they did have him, I would buy a subscription, if not, it is unlikely.

Anyway, just a few weeks and we will be in it all.

On a different note, the Dolphins ended the season fittingly with a loss the the Bills at home. 6-1 on the road but can't even muster a win against the Bills at home. The O stinks, testing times to be a Dolphins fan.

... And what about them Giants, completely folded and gave the game away in the last 10 minutes. Confused

Two live games on Sunday, and Redzone is relegated to the red button.

Good Sky have seen sense, or perhaps they had a quick glance at the emails and forums.

It wasn't all a loss. I enjoyed the Bills win. Big Grin

......My Cowboys at the Cardinals tonight (with nothing to lose) + 100.000 fans in Sydney for the 4th Test = a great late Christmas tv sports fest!

Difficult choice, although I can record both. Good start.

Fortunately this was the last Dolphins home game I had to endure this season. Red Face

I have the Saints and Indy on my card for today. Smile

I have this goofy feeling Seattle is going to win today. It would be a bit of an injustice. I, too, will be supporting Indianapolis, I love Peyton.

And don't forget, the Ducks on Monday night in the College BCS Championship. I can't watch it as I don't have the cable service necessary - could be my first football game via radio in many years.

So, a Zantac from Marshawn Lynch and I feel better. Pete Carroll sure has fun coaching, I like his style. Wow, 8-9 and headed to the second round.

Should be available at espn3.com? We don't have cable either - will probably head to the local sports bar to catch the game.

I'm 0-2, but these were two amazing games. Let's see if today's games can live up to it.

My call for Monday: Auburn 27 - Oregon 24

Oliver, odds are you will be 0-3 Smile I just hope it is a close, competitive game. A co-worker of mine left Friday for AZ and all the sun and fun. Go Ducks.

May I say my scoreline was pretty good, most folks mocked me and said it looked more like a half time score.

Great game, can't wait for the new season to start.

Getting ready for the games, should be a great weekend of football.

Good call on your Auburn-Oregon game !

NFL games this weekend all have potential for great games - maybe even better than the following match-ups next weekend.

The Steelers-Ravens is going to be a war ! And of all the teams remaining, Chicago is the only team the Seahawks could potentially beat so looking for a good game there as well (plus I hate Jay Cutler)

good viewing (always best with the sound off and the music on)

So tired, but worth it to watch the Pack roll on!
Posted on: 16 January 2011 by JamieL_v2
Boy do The Packers look good right now, I can't see either Chicago or Seattle stopping them getting to the Superbowl.

New England still look the form team from the AFC, could be a very good Superbowl.

Took me while to catch up on last week's games, but was up feeding last night, so saw this weeks live.

Loved the first defensive play by The Packers against The Eagles last week, nothing so much fun as seeing a blitz Vick sandwich being made. Not quite as well made as The Redskins did it earlier in the year, but still fun.

John Fox to the Broncos, very happy with that. Al Davis has lost it even more than anyone thought sacking Tom Cable, they were just turning into a good team.

Flacco had an amazing game, rubs in that we need a decent QB if we want to compete.
Posted on: 17 January 2011 by JamieL_v2
Wow - Jets secondary, Brady just standing there watching cornerbacks glued to receivers.

What a game. Good games next week.
Posted on: 19 January 2011 by MilesSmiles
Hoping for a Bears - Jets SB, but think it will be Steelers - Packers.

Should be two great games to watch.

Steelers

Packers

cold

cold

cold

see my further thoughts posted on the right margin ....

I like Naim, the new forum is quite nice, I appreciate them allowing me to spend time here - oops,
ran out of space

turn the sound off, turn the music up, the little pink pills are best, split them in half and double the street value

go Packers.
