Forum Rugby Club - 2010-11 Season

Kicking off the new season's thread with some sad news.
Leicester Tigers' Harry Ellis is to retire at 28 because of persistent left knee problems.
On the bright side, Leicester does of course have Ben Youngs (and perhaps Harry could remain involved in a mentoring role).
But it's always unfortunate when a player (wherever) has to retire (early) because of unresolvable injury problems.

Fair play but best get yourself some bloody big boots as I think Wasps will be in for another miserable season especially now we have Skivington

Well I hope so
Good to see the All Blacks actually hungering after the ball last weekend givinh the Springboks a good old thrashing.
But of course not sure if a good run before the RWC is a good idea given the trends for the last 20 or so years...

Hopefully the Springboks were just lulling the AB's into a false sense of security...
Having said that I do think it is going to be a tough ask for the Boks to retain the trophy. The AB's are going to be tough to beat in their own back yard.

Stranger things happen at sea,and we have the new boys in who will hunger for a place in history
As for the springboks we could just send the Tigers over
In fact it would be awesome to see the All Blacks at welford road

I see that that nice Bakkies Botha is finally getting his come-uppance.

Just a little payback for what Tana and co did to O'Driscoll a few years back

I missed the ABs v the Boks. Was it good? What was the score?

32-12 to the AllBlacks.
Surprisingly good watching from a Kiwi's perspective as it was very surprisingly one-sided. Most of us here at work thought there was a better than even chance of the AB's losing, so for us it was a fabulous game to watch.

Great to hear from Kingsize and PJT! It'd be really good to have more reports about what's going on rugbywise in your locality (domestic as well as international) in your part of the world before we get fully into next season's Leicester Tigers vs Wasps thing

Don`t tell me your bored of the Tigers v Wasps James, or could it be that they are no longer worthy opponents
On another note i have the rugby paper when it comes out every Sunday it only costs £1.50 and covers all the worlds rugby right down to grass roots and as was this morning when i get five minutes peace i dip into it and this time i got to the page where Nick Cain gives his verdict on any given game this one being the Boks and All Blacks and it had me in stitches
Quote, New Zealand are the masters of peaking between world cups and then going down like a shot stag when the tournament is under way Quote
This does give me hope for 2011

No, no, but when I started the original Forum Rugby Club thread, my hope was that it would encompass a broad spectrum of rugby enthusiasts.

I think that there may be more roundy ball fans on this forum than us, which would be about the right ratio as to how rugby stands in popularity to soccer. But you never know next year may change that a little more
