Forum Rugby Club - 2010-11 Season

Kicking off the new season's thread with some sad news.

Leicester Tigers' Harry Ellis is to retire at 28 because of persistent left knee problems.

On the bright side, Leicester does of course have Ben Youngs (and perhaps Harry could remain involved in a mentoring role).

But it's always unfortunate when a player (wherever) has to retire (early) because of unresolvable injury problems.

I think that Glaws have used up their allocation of upsets for this season LOL and a away win at Welford road is not a possibility

Castro,Croft,Chuter and Skivington all return for Saturdays game against Wasps, Game on
So Payne will spend most of the game in reverse along with the Wasps pack

Good night OIRISH

Just getting some good form at the right time, and plenty of good old Glaws Dawg quality last night as we kept them from crossing our line despite their best efforts and Mr Rose the ref.

Still no bloody good though

Still managed to get there and watch us take apart your scrum, have so much of an advantage in the lineout that you had to bribe the referee to constantly ping us for 'bent throwing', and gift you two tries to let you win, without which we would have been out of sight!

And all this you saw too, as you were sitting next to me!

You're lucky we were on your side!

Some images from the day:

First off, some pre-match hospitality was required. You would not believe how long we had to look for a curry house in Leicester but when we found one it was Fantastic!

Then some pre-match Tigers hospitality

Things were looking good for Wasps at this stage

2nd half hospitality

Some more Rugby. And a stray overseas Tiger unsportingly trying to disrupt the penalty attempt...

Local services actually not needed to assist post local hospitality

A good time had by all

Very enjoyable match despite the pre-match rain and drizzle during. Great company throughout.  Only sorry that hardly any Wasps fans turned up (did they realise something in advance??), so the Clubhouse Stand which is mainly reserved for the visitors' posse was rather empty.  But 21,250 out of a possible 24,000 capacity is not too bad for a 5.30pm kick off on a cold Feb day.

Wasps never really looked seriously threatening with ball in hand, hesitant, kicking away through having little idea of how the Tigers' stalwart defence could be breached.  Leicester made use of their opportunities, including a gift or two in the schoolboy error department by Wasps.

Matched preceded by a fantastically good curry lunch in the city centre. Southern Indian regional cuisine a speciality. I had lamb cooked with sorrell leaves.

Believe you me, a step up from the usual stadium cardboard burger ... of the sort no doubt served at Adams Park...

Obviously you had too much of my whisky and too much damson vodka for your eyes to be able to see this phenomena to occurring

Bear in mind if we hadn't absolutely gifted you two tries, through an intercepted pass in front of the posts and parting like the Red Sea at the try line just the once, we would have won by 3 points...So I'm not sure it was as one sided, in terms of Leicester creativity and lack of Wasps quality on the ball, as you pretend to make out...

i.e. 'if we hadn't made mistakes which you capitalised on, we would have won...'  Hmmm....

I see that, after a pretty miserable day for both of your teams, curiously deciding that points originating from your own side's ineptitude should be discounted, will offer you some self-delusional crumb of comfort.
