Forum Rugby Club - 2010-11 Season

Kicking off the new season's thread with some sad news.
Leicester Tigers' Harry Ellis is to retire at 28 because of persistent left knee problems.
On the bright side, Leicester does of course have Ben Youngs (and perhaps Harry could remain involved in a mentoring role).
But it's always unfortunate when a player (wherever) has to retire (early) because of unresolvable injury problems.

O goody hurry up and let's have them in the lions, sorry tigers den. We like southern teams for breakfast
Yeah - I'll drink to that :-)

And you'll be next up, Kiwi! (Them there's fighting talk...! )

Bring it on...
The only team that is more satisfying top beat than England is the Lions
We simply HAVE to beat the Aussies and it's only bearable losing to the Springboks in SA.
And of course we hate the French with a vengance

No, no, but when I started the original Forum Rugby Club thread, my hope was that it would encompass a broad spectrum of rugby enthusiasts.
As I recall James, it was the outcome of a discussion between you, Flyfisher, JamieWed and myself in the bar at HQ after Wasps had been successfully big game hunting and the vision was that we would attract people in from all over the country and hopefully the world and travel to games together.
Great to get the AB input on her but we could do with some Boks, Aussies and Frenchies as well. And why not Pumas, Canucks and Azurri too?
It needs a bit of diverity from the standard Tigers and Wasps.
Come on everyone, get on here and let's work up some international banter and maybe organise some trips if we can.

Absolutely, thank you for remembering and reminding me. (That's why you're a man of internation intrigue and adventure!)

In case my posts don't prove my allegiance, i'm a Bok supporter. I was never that interested in rugby until I moved from SA to NZ - its' very difficult to escape here. The regular bashing of the Boks and SA Super 14 teams by commentators, media and joe public alike when I arrived forced me to pick sides. Funnily enough the baiting has receded somewhat in the last four years . Although I have a feeling that is about to change
PS you won't find too many SA based forum members (I think i've seen one or two since joining) as naim has a very limited distribution network in SA.

I predict that the banter and possibly some mild abuse will be thick and fast next year on all fronts local and international

Great. I remember now. PJT can give us the Kiwi input but we could do with a few more of each to liven it all up.
Too bad the Aussies who contribute on the forum don't seem to be rugby fans, let alone the French.

Forgot to mention that Wasps have been dumped out of the summer sevens after being beaten in every game bar one so the Saffies and Quins go through. I shall be at Welford rd to see what happens at our end of the competition this friday evening

Springboks downed again!, bring on the Aussies and their Kiwi Coach...
I hope this isn't a repeat of 2006!!!

Even if the AB's do win the Webb Ellis Trophy, and have a reasonable chance of doing so, we can still say that they are only capable of winning it on home soil

Off to the dentist. Despite looking after my gnashers, have woken up with a lump of tooth having come off...
Posted on: 22 July 2010 by deadlifter
Ooop`s and ouch!
Posted on: 24 July 2010 by deadlifter
Well James you were better of at the dentist yesterday as the Tigers academy of young and upcoming unknowns were dumped out of the sevens competition by a superior Newcastle Falcons [ who thoroughly deserved to win the northern round ] and Sale Sharks who went through in second place. We were even beat by Leeds Carnegie
I do think George Ford is a star of the future though

My regular dentist has retired. So the new one turned out to be a strapping East German (think Dr. Evil's assistant, Frau Farbissina). Drilling and filling without any anaesthetic. Although it was like a scene from 'Marathon Man', I was a brave boy... Cockers would be proud of me ... almost

LOL
By the way been on the Tigers forum for a while but just lurk reading in the back ground most of the time, its quite a complicated forum though don`t you think also i dip into the unofficial forum for the Tigers as well, that can be interesting. chased my 11 year old cousin in the park opposite after the sevens, he being cheeky and also fleet of foot but he did not bank on me still being able to shift at forty years old and 21.5 stone and as i changed up the gears over fifty yards i grabbed his shoulder just as the little bugger jinked left and left me motoring on straight [like a ship i need some distance to change direction ] before losing it and going down like a sack of spuds without the chance to salute like the captain of the Titanic. I did think though that i was worthy of a place in the Tigers front row

Hmmm - a rift in the Springbok management/Coaching team seems to be the reason the 'boks are playing crap...

I reckon the rift has appeared because they are playing badly rather than the other way round.

They are like petulent children having a little tantrum. Very amusing
