Forum Rugby Club - 2010-11 Season

Kicking off the new season's thread with some sad news.

Leicester Tigers' Harry Ellis is to retire at 28 because of persistent left knee problems.

On the bright side, Leicester does of course have Ben Youngs (and perhaps Harry could remain involved in a mentoring role).

But it's always unfortunate when a player (wherever) has to retire (early) because of unresolvable injury problems.

Well one step forward and two steps back. This was the worst England performance in some time. Scotland outfought England at the breakdown and defended extremely well. England were fronted up by Scotland and forced into a lot of errors. They should have resorted to the keep it simple approach and were guilty of over-complicating things.

They will struggle with Ireland's superior forwards at Lansdowne Rd.

Thank you for letting me know what happened, I nodded off.

A win's a win...

I must say that i have to agree with Mark but i would not go as far as to say that we did not deserve to win and as Jamie said a win is a win,but woe betide them if they treat Ireland the same next week especially as they will still be furious about the Wales defeat { i do hope that the touch judge had a plentyfull supply of vaseline }
Anyway i still had a good time in the pub with a rake of Cuthberts down the old pudding shute  and i have had my card signed by the better half to purchase a season ticket, Happy days

So it was Tigers that were responsible for serving up that dross!!

No just the quality parts of the game like the kicking and the try

Which were matched by the wooden spoon contenders, Scotland. So then, Tigers being absent from the breakdown might explain why we were so light in that area and outfought by Scotland!

Clearly Cole, Deacon and Croft couldn't be bothered with winning the ball!

Palmer and Haskell played well though!

"They will struggle with Ireland's superior forwards at Lansdowne Rd"

And my worst fears have come true. England will do well to keep this below a 25 point gap at this point. Ireland are better in every single department and Engalnd do not look like they could score in a month of Sundays.

It does look as though it has been a false dawn for England, and all the claims of an England renaissance are premature.

The key are that they are losing out is at the breakdown, and this is where they had a bad a half against France and bad games against Scotland and South Africa. The one offs we thought they were appear to be the default setting. If they cannot sort this out, they will not progress beyond the quarter finals of the World cup.

Ireland are a better team full stop.

Allez Les Bleus!

Les Bleus sont en effet alles...

Well done Ireland.  England were just completely and utterly hopeless.  Hands have to be held up.  So to quote someone on the Tigers' forum, "Not a good day for the Tigers. Flood was hopeless, Ben Youngs needs to grow up. Crofty couldn t catch a cold".

As you say a very poor performance by England but Ireland came off the starting blocks at mach 10 and we could not cope with their speed and aggression. I do not think that Easter is a worthy captain at all and wonder if Tindall or Moody were available would they have salvaged the game ?????.
Anyway let us have our boys back and we can march on to HQ for the aviva final

Well done Glaws, spend your luncheon vouchers wisely.

I'll just nip back downstairs and cancel the recording of the highlights now I know the result

What a game, that was the 3rd LV= cup final I have been to with GLAWS in 3 consecutive  years, and yesterday they cracked it BIG TIME!

Mark, I can assure you Nicky Robinson has NOT played like that all season otherwise we would have kept him and not let him go to the PESTS.

Well at least we are in the Lager Cup next year.

Sorry about Glaws' major thumping on Saturday FF.  That must have hurt

Also, sorry about Pests' major thumping on Sunday, Mark.  Again, that must have hurt.

But not quite so sorry about Barf's major thumping on Saturday - their worst ever Premiership defeat at home.

I wonder how those Leicester Tigers are getting on...??

Looks like you will have to be upset for the pests again James

Tigers were at the ugly pills again yesterday, but still at the top and still in control

Posted on: 03 April 2011 by JamieWednesday

Yah....8th in the table with everyone below us having games in hand...Could be worse.

I still have hope that everyone else is going to be disqualified for not having a name that starts with the elemental letter for Tungsten. I think.
