Forum Rugby Club - 2010-11 Season

Kicking off the new season's thread with some sad news.

Leicester Tigers' Harry Ellis is to retire at 28 because of persistent left knee problems.

On the bright side, Leicester does of course have Ben Youngs (and perhaps Harry could remain involved in a mentoring role).

But it's always unfortunate when a player (wherever) has to retire (early) because of unresolvable injury problems.

Great entertainment! Well done Glaws, there can't be many teams who score 5 tries at Welford Rd.

It gives me a little hope for the final!

What for Wasps, is Andy Powell and that arse T*m P**yne still suspended for biting off more than they could chew, Lol
Posted on: 24 April 2011 by JWM

Happy Easter one and all.

Anyway, Surrey are 'played 2 drawn 2'. Only Essex are worse, having one point less...At least relegation isn't an issue...

Rugby you say? No, sorry, doesn't ring a bell. I can't remember what I was thinking

Ahhh...Ahhaaa... Torres has scored a goal. I fact 3 games on the trot in a week that WE have scored three...I'm going back to the football. Celery...Celery...if she don't c...etc..!

Great result for 'Quins at Thomond Park. Only Munster's second ever home defeat in Europe.

Can't remember who the other one was against.

Saints murder Perpignan in a great ( although bit one sided ) semi final   , now for Leinster

Posted on: 01 May 2011 by Chillkram

Well done Saints. Should be a good final.

Just watching the Heineken cup semi between Saints and Perpignan ( listened to the game on the radio yesterday ) highlights that is, and I cannot believe the Frenchman only got a yellow for his tackle on Myler ( who was in mid air and landed on his head ) that was a clear red and should also receive a ban. I hope the citing ocifer was watching

I met Serge Betsen today!

Posted on: 04 May 2011 by deadlifter
How much did you grovel for that chance, Lol
Posted on: 04 May 2011 by Chillkram

I was out and about in Ealing and bumped into him as he was helping new signing Jeremy Castex to look for somewhere to live. He was visiting the house next door to the one I was visiting.

I shook his hand!

Legend.

I would begrudgingly concur on the word legend

So Wasps and Powell part company but Thompson is incoming, I wonder if one man can turn them around
Posted on: 05 May 2011 by Chillkram

Not Thompson, I'm afraid. Decent player, better than he was a few years ago, but not a game changer. We have made a few other signings that might change things but no big names. We haven't got Tigers' money I'm afraid. More 'names' have gone than have come in since we last won a trophy.

Money!, most of our boys come through the academy or we pick up players that fail to shine for their current club and give them the Tigers polish

In other words, "we buy your players if we want them!"

Posted on: 05 May 2011 by deadlifter
At a reduced rate of course, then we make them worth the money other clubs would of spent

Don`t know if your listening or at the game James but Tigers are playing like complete arses with loads of really basic mistakes with Croft stepping into touch instead of diving over for the try . If they do not get there act together PDQ i suspect the Saffies will be the new champions . Things are not going Saints way either against Leeds  24-3

Half time 13-8 to Irish

Posted on: 07 May 2011 by deadlifter

Make that 15-24 to Leeds and Saints are at home

Posted on: 07 May 2011 by deadlifter

Well Bath look like they will be in the play offs ousting Saints unless Saints pull something out of the hat

Posted on: 07 May 2011 by deadlifter

Seems like Saints may have pulled it back for a play off position

Posted on: 07 May 2011 by Chillkram

Looks like Sarries will be top, though.

Tee hee hee!
