Forum Rugby Club - 2010-11 Season

Kicking off the new season's thread with some sad news.

Leicester Tigers' Harry Ellis is to retire at 28 because of persistent left knee problems.

On the bright side, Leicester does of course have Ben Youngs (and perhaps Harry could remain involved in a mentoring role).

But it's always unfortunate when a player (wherever) has to retire (early) because of unresolvable injury problems.

I`m sure they will get it together in time for next year.
Your problem is much worse in my estimation Winker as your team have to keep up the winning streak and not nose dive as is expected Big Grin
where as us, everybody thinks we are shit Roll Eyes but we have a little time to get a grip
and give a tour de force when it matters most Winker Big Grin [ i am allowed to have dreams]

Just had a nice relaxing morning watching the All Blacks take apart the Aussies in the tri nations and what a game it was ending 49-28 with the A.B`s only one point of a record score over the Aussies. It was such a fast game that i were so engrossed i forgot to pick up the bread from the bakers, DOH DOH and thrice DOH Roll Eyes

Just watched the game that i recorded yesterday [Boks Vs All Blacks] and what a fantastic game it was with the Boks putting in a brilliant performance and making sure the AB`s were on the back foot for a large slice of the game, BUT in the dying moments McCaw scored a try that was so close it was almost in touch with the TMO struggling to call it,then Dan Carter fluffed the conversion [also missing a penalty prior to this] then Dagg goes and scores another try with a minute to go but again Carter fluffs the conversion. Roll Eyes I really wanted the Boks to win this game but you cannot take anything away from the All Blacks and they thoroughly deserved the win Big Grin
Also last night i at last got to see Invictus, brilliant and if you have not seen it yet go get it and make sure you watch the extras at the end Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Imaginatively different from ... Newcastle Falcons, produced by ... Cotton Traders, Newcastle's kit suppliers. Funny that.

I wonder how big the Tigers' brief design budget was? Probably not throwing too much cash at it, because afterall, we only play half our matches in it. Or else, it is perhaps Tigers' concern for the fans' financial wellbeing in this present age of austerity ... because no-one will want to buy it.

Oops i don`t think that is going to go down well at least yellow like the caterpillar machines would have been better and more striking at that to,still it will not make a difference to the teams that are going to be on the receiving end of a kicking like ??? Hmm Wasps for example Winker Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Watch out everyone else, here's who's coming to maul you. Leicester Tigers Squad 2010-11 (photographed 25 Aug).

They certainly mauled Leinster on friday and for a so called friendly it certainly was not with a brawl in the first half, but if you come to the den you need to expect to fight Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Cipriani to have soccer trial (in USA)

Soccer - right place for his inflated ego and financial aspirations, wrong place for his sport talent where he'll be just one among many.

I watched the tri-nations yesterday again Boks vs Aussies it was a good game with the Aussies taking control in the first half, but come the second half it were a different kettle of fish with the Boks piling the pressure on and getting back on top, but in the dying moments they gave away a penalty and the Aussies opted for the sticks and sending it over from fifty five yards+ and winning the game. Which with me supporting the Boks had me repeatedly shouting Bollocks at the tv, i certainly felt for them as they had given a great performance and all they had to do for two minutes was to keep the ball in hand Roll Eyes.
Still the Tigers are on this afternoon against Saints and my seat in front of the tv is booked Big Grin
I must say that the women`s world cup has been fantastic and i look forward to watching the conclusion after the Tigers game

I was at the London double header at Twickenham yesterday and what a great way to open the new season. 10 tries in total I think so it works out at a £ a try! Great value day at HQ.

As for the games themselves, very impressed with Irish after a good start from Sarries, but some good running rugby from both sides.

Quins had a decent 2nd half after some ropey 1st half defending and probably deserved the win overall for the quality of their ball in hand work. Wasps fell off too many tackles for my liking and Flutey at fly half doesn't really work for me.

As for the game at Franklin's Gardens today Saints were superb and should have been off into the distance but for some poor kicking from Myler. They should have been comfortably enough ahead to be going for the bonus point try at the end rather than slotting the kick for 3 points.

Now then, come on girls let's show these Black Ferns how the white chariot rolls!

Yes mate, i do have sky but it would have been a lot of fuel for the shocking performance that the Tigers gave Roll Eyes lets hope it gets back to normal soon, its a good job Myler was crap as well.
Talking about sky i`m thinking of dumping them for Virgin as ESPN is standard with them and i would have their broadband and phone as well, two reasons
#1 sky have put up the subscription £4
#2 ESPN have the lions share of the premiership
#3 Virgin is cheaper
Any thoughts ??
anyway i`m off back downstairs to watch the women`s final then the pub to commiserate Frown

Make that three reasons Roll Eyes
Posted on: 05 September 2010 by Chillkram
Shame. They just didn't have enough territory. At one point in the 1st half the ball had been in the England half for 98% of the time!

Glad you made the Twicks double header, I know you were hoping to. I couldn't have made it anyway - wedding!

Re Tigers, I missed most of the shameful-sounding first half on R5L, the bishop dropped in whilst he was passing!! I put the shameful performance down to the totally pants new away kit. How could any self-respecting professional sportsman put in a good performance in THAT?

Tigers aren't exactly helping themselves. Squeaky pants time. Fair play to Exeter.
