Forum Rugby Club - 2010-11 Season

Kicking off the new season's thread with some sad news.

Leicester Tigers' Harry Ellis is to retire at 28 because of persistent left knee problems.

On the bright side, Leicester does of course have Ben Youngs (and perhaps Harry could remain involved in a mentoring role).

But it's always unfortunate when a player (wherever) has to retire (early) because of unresolvable injury problems.

N.B
some of us were undercover see above, where as some of us, me and Donna were on the terraces with no protection from the elements [hail and very heavy rainfall ] but Donna`s Barbour coat held out and my tweed cap and lined tweed jumper kept me warm but very wet. Still being brought up north of Watford i ignored the weather and enjoyed a great game which would have been a formality for the Tigers over Bath but for the inclement weather which caused a lot of handling errors from both sides Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Magnificent display by Exeter Chiefs. Well done the new boys to the Premiership! (Wonder what excuse Venter will make this time...?? Roll Eyes)
Posted on: 30 October 2010 by deadlifter
Yes what a fantastic result for the Chiefs and i also heard another reason to hate the Saffies, they have signed that ponce Hensen [ when he`s finished dancing that is ] Roll Eyes. I`m just listening to the Glaws Vs Tigers game on radio Leicester six all at the moment with thirtysix already having had three kicks charged down on our try line Confused
Posted on: 30 October 2010 by JWM
Billy Whizz has got potential, but he's not yet the finished product that some people keep saying he is. Very talented, but he hasn't yet fully developed a 'game head' at Premiership(+) level.

If he himself is being as impatient as some of his advocates on the Tigers' Forum, then perhaps this will bring him (and them) back down to earth. No doubt Cockers will have something to say about (thus far) three near-Try line clearance kicks charged down...

Half time and 9-6 to the Glaws all penalties and a few missed opportunity`s by the Tigers and they must watch the penalty count with Robinsons boot
Posted on: 30 October 2010 by deadlifter
Twelve all,at least 36 is kicking his penalty`s Big Grin
Posted on: 30 October 2010 by deadlifter
Oh well 19-12 to the Glaws Frown

FANTASTIC WIN despite the usual antic of Leicester "Tigers always cheating"

Best crowd reaction at Kingsholm this season.

After a dire start to the season, things are starting to click, and we have a lot of talented yougsters in or on the verge of being in the team.

Yawn.

The Man from Waiuku River

There was movement on the sidelines, for the word had got around
Replacement fly-half Stephen Donald was soon to take the ground
The game was all-but over, the Darkness held the lead
The Wallabies were clearly shagged, it was time to about concede.
The Men-in-Gold were down by 12 and it had all been seen before
Sookface had just come on, as Gits was shown the door.
But just when all seemed hopeless and the only outcome was defeat
The Man from Waiuku River rose ungainly to his feet.
His warm-up on the sideline was something of a farce
He’s not very good at kicking, and he can hardly fucking pass
When Smug Ted dragged Dan Carter, ‘cause his ankle was near shot
The look on Richie’s face said “Ol’ Ted’s lost the fucking plot”
For DC on one leg is a better bet than Waiuku River’s two
Anyone who’d seen him butcher things for Mooloo, knew what he would do
So the Man from Waiuku River did stumble on into the line
And it was only seconds later, the sun began to shine
Gilbert ran the Gilbert with style, poise and grace
He timed a sweet ball to Shmoo, who had far too much pace
It was 24-19 as the conversion sailed over from near the 3rd row
Rocky gathered the boys’ round “With Donald on lads, we’ve got a fucking show!”
On the Man from Waiuku River did bungle, not stopping to draw breath
He even had a chance at a penalty goal to win it at the death.
But for those who know him best, it was always going to shank
He’s just so God-damn gawky; he’s like a fucking plank.
But still our Man kept plodding, he wasn’t done with yet
There was still one more balls-up, as bad as it could get
For the Man from Waiuku River, again had the ball in his hands
And to win the game he had to only kick it to the stands
But alas he stuffed the kick and downfield the ball did soar
You could almost hear O’Conner shout “Fuck me dead, I’m gonna score!”
And so he did just that, young O’Conner was now the hero
On the other side The Man from Waiuku River, a freshly minted zero
The Wallabies went wild, and the crowd they pissed it up
“Stick the 10 straight up your arse”, they screamed – they even won a Cup
And down by Waiuku Riverside, where the youngsters dream of greatness
They should remember their Stephen Donald, is completely fucking hopeless

James

I knew if I tweaked a TIGER you would be bound to respond.

To be honest Glaws, Tigers, Wasps have all had poor starts to this season, but the 2010/11 season has a long way to go yet.

Good to hear from you too.

Regards
FF

A brave effort from England in the second half and more evidence that they are on the road to recovery.

England could not cope with the ABs pace and power in the first half, but a lack of precision and ability to execute precluded a better result for England overall.

More work needed but much, much better against the world's best side.
