Nice Photos.

Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.
Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.
Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.
Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:
I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

Jason, use the display image option on the toolbar and host it on ImageShack for example.
Here's a picture of Tryfan in Snowdonia from the campsite I stayed at last weekend.

This was my first attempt at light painting. A reasonable result, I hope.

Anyone got any tips what I must be doing wrong when trying to get my pictures on the site?

A slightly cropped version to take care of a tiny distraction in one of the corners. Funny how I hadn't noticed it until somebody commented on the picture on facebook.

Maher,
I like much better your first version, probably because I don't do Facebooks...
The cropped image is in my view off balance, having too little of a highway (in relation to the sky) which works importantly to anchor both sides of the street as well as the nearest light pole. The 'imperfect' corner does not bother me a bit.

Haim

Thanks for the feedback and advice, Haim. I see what you are talking about. I'm loving how the comments of more seasoned photographers is making me see things in my pictures - both bad and good - that I didn't notice previously. In all cases I will admit to this image being no way near ideal in composition. Photography in Saudi is not generally accepted in public and one must do it with caution to avoid questioning by the police. This limits my possible view points but I'm determined on taking another and better shot sometime soon

Maher,
The world is not much different here. I was just questioned by the police yesterday, and not for the first time, for taking pictures in the vicinity of a county jail.

And I thought that the topic here was nice photos and not rude remarks.
The point I was trying to make was that these days photographers all over the world are being watched and scrutinized much more closely by the various security authorities.

Assuming you are referring to my now removed post, I did indeed feel bad about the post and as a result removed it. I try to hold my posts to things audio but yours touched a nerve. But upon reflection, I also removed it because I recalled the pleasure your superb photographs have brought in the past. It's just well.....both your original and subsequent comments seem to lack, to put it mildly, a sense of proportion. But that's not a crime and e-mails are not the most nuanced of communications. Hope you continue to enjoy your photography.

Nope! I know they look that way, but I was stood on the ground, and they were banking at helpful angles!
Camera is Nikon D3X at 25Mpixel, lens is the stunning 200mm F2 VR lens with the 1.7x multiplier making a combined 340mm F3.3
Everything handheld (and v sore arm from supporting the lens!)
If you want the original 25mp versions, check the urls in the pic links and take off the "s" Be warned that the pix are big -- 6048x4028 pixels.

Does what i need in the photostudio.
Prefer my Leicas, obviously, for proper photography. Or the Ebony.
Must confess to having lots of fun with the new Lumix GH1 (both with lumix glass and the new leica adapter)
