Nice Photos.

Most of us have taken one or two nice photos.

Here is my candidate as being almost quite good. In fact it is two painstakingly joined.

Taken up in the mountain at Skurdalsvatn in 2000.

Though this one takien in Warsaw in November 2006 is not bad:

I know there are several good photgraphers here, and it would be nice to see some of you best efforts if you feel inclined to share!

...it just looked a nice dramatic sky (often they're not, they've just had the blue darkened).

Bit of both mate - mostly a levels adjust, then some selective contrast adjust (via curves) painted in various areas...then a bit of 'colour' into the shadows and mids to give it a duo-tone feel...

£100 ?

Seriously though, nothing fancy, just a bit of 'Danish School' (an expression in photojournalism from a few years back when the profession seemed flooded with Scandinavian photographers doing well - most of the pics looked the same and they were all doing the same trick - darken, whack up the contrast and most importantly, shooting on the angle and never having the camera straight..!!

Steve, I think you maybe overdid it a little. The original had very good composition but needed a little drama but maybe a halfway house between the original and yours would have worked better? Just my two cents and only a personal opinion obviously.

No - the lake level is down too low to get closer than a 2 mile walk and both of us are a bit decrepit now.

I know what you mean Derek. The lake level was down when I was there and the walk was just about manageable.
