Will it work...Touch screen with unitiserve???

Posted by: Woods Scot on 15 January 2011

Wondering if this model: "Proximus P16-40922 Mini 7" USB Touch Screen Monitor" is supported by the unitiserve? Hoping someone can help out.

The size and price are right.

Hello everyone.

Do not know if it works. But do not buy it.

I bought this:
Lilliput 8 "869GL, VGA Touch Screen USB.

I bought it because in the user guide said:
"Touch Screen USB / VGA. "

And it looks good but the touch is not working properly.
I sent an email to support.
If they do not all should have warned in the user's guide ..
Greetings.

Translated with google translator.

Good to know. Does anyone have any touch screen monitors they recommend. I am looking for something small. 13" and below.

I should ask naim, apparently only a small number of devices work.

Horrible ... There is a solution, Naim could allow access via the iPad - HTML 5 rather than flash. Touch screen access is a bit retro.

I had the same problem. My purchased touch-screen did not work. Naim support told me too late that "UnitiServe can be connected to only a limited number of touch-screens which are in its internal driver database."
Yes, touch screen access is a bit retro, but it is for me also the ideal solution. I don't like remote access. I prefer to stand up from my sofa and go to the equipment out of respect for those equipment.

Hi

I recently asked Naim to confirm which Touchscreens would work.

The reply was as follows:

Currently we support the 8, 8 and 10" touch screens from www.LinITX.com and the 15" CTX PV5931T

Hope this helps..

I went for the 'web browser' option of controlling the UnitiServe, from one of my networked PC's - works great !!

Will also try out the Ipod Touch option next week or so..

Try the Ipad - which, unless you are trying to use a flash-ridden forum like this one, works a treat.

There are generic touchscreen drivers which are used by the 7", 8" and 10" LinITX Touchscreens - they are also used by the 15" CTX touchscreen. When any of these devices are plugged in then the touchscreen driver picks them up, we can see that the touchscreen driver is active and then give the "Calibrate Touchscreen" option in the GUI.

There will be other monitors that we support (due to the generic driver) but those are the monitors that we have tested.

Unfortunately there are also touchscreens that pretend to be mice or other input devices and in those cases we either they work but we cannot detect that they are in use (as they don't flag up as being a touchscreen) or they don't work at all.

Cheers

Hi Phil,
Dave Dever had recommended the ELO touchscreens. Could you indicate whether these are supported or not. I'm getting mixed messages here.
Thanks

Dave has recommended the ELO touchscreens before and they do work but they do not use the generic touchscreen driver therefore if the calibration is out on them then there is no way to recalibrate them.

Cheers

Thanks Phil for your further clarification.

Tog - I am thinking about the Ipad, what other benefits does it give for the additional cost ?

I started using the browser interface with my macbook, and I think I will reconsider a touch screen. Even though I do like the retro look.

Thanks Phil,
Think I'll stay with a monitor and mouse in that case.
Tog : the iPad won't give you access to the full set of features (ie playlists)

I just connected (successfully) a FeelWorld FW819AHT 8" 6x19 touch display. After the display calibration it works well and also has an HDMI as well as the VGA input.

I got it off of eBay $160. The seller has a website, www.m2cmart.com

The direct link is:  http://www.m2cmart.com/FEELWOR...W819AHT_p369445.html

Pretty cool as it even has a stand/mount that seems to work well enough.

iPad man!

No reason to contemplate anything else.

@pcstockton: got three of them, three iPods and two iPhones.

I was just so jazzed to find a touchscreen that worked and wasn't stupid money or so big it was fugly.

There are a few things you need a screen, or flash based web browser or the desktop client to set like the UPnP and the music stores. If the iOS devices could do that it would be spiffy.

or jremote controlling a different server.

The screen I got [above] is really slick, once you train its cursor.

It is tiny and even does HDMI!
