Looks interesting, but why is Imelda Marcos on the cover?

Porcupine Tree: Anesthetize - live in Tilburg DVD

Current Release Format speculation

- Standard release (contents: unknown)
- Blu Ray (contents: unknown)
- Deluxe edition (contents: Hard back book, rumored to include the DVDs, Audio CDs of the concert and an extra recording of another live show from the FOABP tour)

Latest from PT MySpace Blog...

Porcupine Tree's new live film is approaching completion and a special edition will be available in April, with a regular version to follow in May. Anesthetize was filmed live over 2 nights in Tilburg, The Netherlands in October 2008, at the end of the Fear of a Blank Planet tour. The 130 minute live film includes a complete performance of the Blank Planet album and 11 other tracks, and was directed and edited by Lasse Hoile on high definition cameras, with the soundtrack mixed into stereo and 5.1 sound.

The special edition will take the form of a cloth bound hard back 120 page book (as per The Incident and Insurgentes deluxe versions) featuring live photography of the band taken over the last 5 years. The book will house both a DVD and a much higher quality Blu-Ray disc version of the film, as well as 2 audio CDs of the soundtrack including one bonus track not featured in the film. The book and audio CDs will not be included with the standard retail versions of the Blu-Ray/DVD.

More news soon.

My comment: I have not been disappointed with any release from PT and as long as they don't decend into John Mayer drivel, I will continue to support them.

So now SW is trying to get me buy an SACD and a Bluray player now?.

I don't like the JM release either but at least I only needed a CDP or computer.

I don't think SW will get any more of my money.

You can Pre-order this now on vinyl. It comes with a cd.

New U.N.K.L.E album in May and a new 65 DaysOfStatic 'sometime in the spring' .... rather excited.

Looking forward to the new:

Black keys
Beastie boys
Goldfrapp
Gorilaz
bomb the bass
massive attack
groove armada
bettye lavette

plus a load of re-issues!

New Ry Cooder/Chieftains collaboration 'San Patricio' out in the next week or so is a mix of Mexican and Irish folk. Really. Being streamed at NPR at present.

I'm not quite sure it all goes together but the playing is great, and thankfully Cooder does not sing on too many tracks.

Not at the top of my purchase list but others may be more enticed!

Lets hope that this album is better than that Seventh Sign effort - what a waste of space that was - and fingers crossed that they go back towards the sound the had on Supernature.

Update direct from Steve Lake at ECM.

Early in 2007, Jarrett was asked to contribute to a Haden documentary ("Rambling Boy") and they played briefly together, for the first time since the 1976 break-up of the American Quartet . A few months later, Jarrett invited Haden to his home studio and they recorded in duo over a four day period. "Jasmine" comprises the material they liked best from these sessions. Emphasis is on standards and love songs, but the overall feel and atmosphere is perhaps closer to Jarrett's solo "Melody At Night..." than anything else in his discography. Intimate, then, and deeply melodic.
The album is being released in May.
