The new Aimee Mann The Charmer. Heard the single and am liking it.

Antony + The Johnson: Cut The World

Live album with new arrangements and orchestrations.

I think is a fascinating artist who wanders the line between sublime and almost unlistenable, and is all the better for it. Will be in my basket.

Delta Time by Hans Theessink & Terry Evans featuring Ry Cooder

Randy McStines Lo-Fi Resistance - Chalk Lines (what a great album cover)

The new album includes Gavin Harrison, John Giblin, Colin Edwin, Dave Kerzner. Randy recorded guitar parts with John Wesley in Tampa recently. Really looking forward to this release, soon I hope.

New Calexico album, 'Algiers'.

First for 4 years. Due 11th Sept. Single 'Para' is streaming on YouTube and at Pitchfork. Sounds like it will just be fine, certainly hope so as last two albums lost their way for me somewhat but I loved those that came before.

Also new Grizzly Bear  'Shields' is imminent. Might wander into my basket too.

Some of the big classical releases we can look forward to (wasn't the Pires disc supposed to have Grimaud on the cover before her famous fallout with Abbado)?

This from Vintage Vinyl News ........

Donald Fagen's fourth solo album for Reprise Records, Sunken Condos, will be released on Tuesday, October 16 2012.

The nine tracks on Sunken Condos were co-produced by Michael Leonhart and Donald. All but one track, an Ashkenazi recasting of Isaac Hayes' Out of the Ghetto, are new Fagen originals. Some familiar names from the Steely Dan family of players are on hand (Jon Herington, the Steely Dan horns, Freddie Washington) plus some new faces.

The word is that, from now on, everything Donald does has got to be funky!

....cool!

Andsnes' Beethoven Piano Concerto No.1 will be coming out next week.

I am curious to hear what insights could he bring to this old warhorse.

Presumably he brings a map and travel guide. Or, just follow the footsteps of the thousands who went before him

EJ,

Hopefully something good and different.

He's got some stiff competition now since I've listened to a few very good ones.

I'd think Andsnes can be more than just an executor. I am realissing now that truly gifted artists are interpretors.
