One of my favourites of 2010.........

Lissie - Catching A Tiger. Even though it was quite "accessible" from the start I still enjoy this album more with each listen. Seeing her live a couple of weeks ago has only enhanced that feeling.

Atmospheric sounds from Wallumrod - with Arve Henriksen on trumpet.

New Nigel? How is it. I don't have this one but do have his album The Rise, on Label Bleu which I might try later.

One of my first loves from early 80's Hip Hop are these cool white dudes from New York it sent me on a journey of alternative music to this day. This is a later 92 album though.

Hi Adrian, I've had it for a while but played it only once or twice. It's enjoyably funky jazz - think Headhunters era Herbie Hancock, with a dash of French zaniness. After playing it this morning I got onto Amazon and picked up another couple of his CDs (Fire, and Forget) for £4 each - search for "Label Bleu" and order by price if you're interested.

I need to add Wallumrod's "No Birch" to my wishlist. Smile

Karl, do you know these? Despite the early digital recording, the performances are even more impressive than the ones that Ashkenazy did with Previn IMO - largely due to the contribution of the Concertgebouw Orchestra.

EJ

Not familiar with them but they would IMO need to be going some to improve on the Ashkenazy/LSO/Previn cycle (I bought them all this year on Vinyl).
