Hans Jorg Mammel / La Fenice / Jean Tubéry

Buxtehude: O fröhliche Stunden, BuxWV 84

While best known as a master of the organ and of the polyphonic Cantata, the great Dietrich Buxtehude (1637-1707) also left us a number of Spiritual Concerts for soloists and instrumental ensemble. For this recital, Hans-Jörg Mammel has selected works from this repertoire, including amazing vocal chaconnes which bear the undisputed signature of the great composer the young Bach so much admired.

Doug, you are doing it again: Beau Soir & Belle Femme...

Indeed! Ah, the life!
One dose of Debussy's Violin Sonata + one dose of Ravel's Violin Sonata + several doses of Fauré's Après un rêve

Been doing a small La Boheme series over the last few days... The above, plus the old recording from La Scala, with Renata Scotto, Gianni Raimondi and Tito Gobbi, under Antonino Votto  (no pic). The only disappointment here is the botched 96 kHz/24bit remastering job on the Karajan Boheme. It sounds tinny and artificial, I can't believe this passes for an improvement on anyone's system.
