I read some reviews that said similar things about the first recording they did, is it genuinely poor or just average for the talent on display?

It is much more of the duets as opposed to the quartet pieces and I don't find them that attractive. It is also an album, that on track 8 destroys my system as the guitar has been so close miked that it is almost unplayable. I had my speaker dealing running round like a blue arsed fly trying to find out why it was happening and we even sent the CD back to Bob at Neat for further testing. I therefore don't enjoy listening to it any longer, not that I really ever did. There are far better ways to spend your money in the Metheny world, all IMHO.

Matriarch by Owsley (Tribute Video)

This is a tribute video dedicated to Owsley (William Reese Owsley III) who passed away April 30, 2010. He was in a band in the early '90's called The Semantics and went on to release two full-length albums and a digital EP (still available on iTunes). He also toured and/or recorded with superstars like Vince Gill, Shania Twain, Amy Grant and The Jonas Brothers. He was a brilliant musician and songwriter, and will be sorely missed.

This song is Matriarch from his 2nd solo release entitled "The Hard Way".

I agree, for me this is their best album, not a weak track on it.

At Chez Voltaire this album is affectionately know as the 'Eddie the eagle album'...rarely have we seen such a rank outsider storm to pole position.

Ending 2010 with the three best albums I bought this year:

1. Heart - Little Queen
2. Jeff Buckley - Grace
3. Keb' Mo' - Keb' Mo'

Ofcourse there were more discoveries, but these stand out firmly!
