this came with a second disk which has some writings on it about 5.1, DVD-A and 24 bit. Not sure what to do with that. CD sounds good though.

My second CD(DVD) plays(sound) in the iMac OK (5.1 DTS or LPCM stereo) so I guess in any DVD player.
Whether there are any other options with a DVD- enabled player, I have no knowledge.
Addendum: I get no sound on the bonus tracks BTW.Posted on: 09 February 2011 by dav301

Re:op of the pile:Freddie Hubbard "Sweet Return"
only seems right, after the previous two albums, with the wonderful Joanne Brakeen on piano and Roy Haynes on drums.
Jeff, great choice one of my favorite albums of all time for the reasons you mentioned, plus Eddie Gomez on bass and top notch recording. I have nearly all Joanne Brackeen's own albums on vinyl, must be 6 or 7, I never saw any on CD.

Delivered in the office today, first listen. The recordings on this 5CD set span the period 1929 - 1959, with emphasis on the early years. General sound seems decent, and based on sampling most of the remasterings appear to be of high quality (distortions and tape/shellac noise are kept under control without killing the sound dead). Presentation and notes are beautifully done.

I think I prefer this to their latest offering.
