A true classic of sampling gone mad.
Always on heavy rotation in Chez Jono.

The debut album from Inon Barnatan. I like his interpretation of Schubert very much. With a beautiful bell-like tone and a focus that points to something much greater, it is a reading that effectively portrays Schubert's loneliness and despair.

Loving it. Recorded in an old Pasta Factory. They wanted to experiment with recording techniques. Great atmospheric sound to it and great album. There is also a limited Deluxe edition with extra trax that were recorded in an old reptile breeeders garage.
Second listen- this is a brilliant album.

This L'Elisir d'Amore was recorded when Roberto Alagna and Angela Gheorghiu were on the top of the hype. Now, 14 years later, what remains is a good Elisir, but not a great one. Alagna and Gheorghiu are charming but slightly monochrome, and Evelino Pidò keeps things moving without much sense of style (he did a better job with the French Lucie de Lammermoor, a few years later). Alaimo is very good as Dulcamara, and steals every scene he is in. The opera itself remains one of the funniest around.
