Without any 'legato' (smoothless transitions between sung notes) to speak of, I found Alagna always a bit course but his enthusiasm, diction and refusal to fake notes make up for a lot. Furthermore, early in his career, he was not afraid to sing softly, and some of the arias on this disc are ravishingly beautiful.
