Fantastic set last night at Yoshi's Oakland!!  Very fresh music and not at all what was expected.  Some great original music reminiscent of RTF (Lenny White type drumming from Marvin Smith) at times or Oregon (Soprano work like Mc Candless from Bill Pierce).   Welcome back Kevin Eubanks!

The new Zoe Muth and the Lost High Rollers album Starlight Hotel. Excellent stuff. Jeff a definite one for you. In fact if you haven't heard her first disc then you should listen to that as well. She's from your neck of the woods Seattle

Not out until April 19th.

Noted, but I got no money at the moment, and as always, thanks.

Did a few over the weekend; all on the black stuff; all from the L'oiseau-lyre Florilegum series and all by the Acadamy of Ancient Music.

George Frideric Handel, Music For Royal Fireworks, DSLO 543.
George Frideric Handel, Water Music, DSLO 548.
George Frideric Handel, Ode For The Birthday Of Queen Anne,  DSLO 541.
George Frideric Handel, Messiah, DSLO 613.

Matthew Locke, Incidental Music to the Tempest, DSLO 507.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Exsultate Jubilate, 411 832-1.

Good stuff, I even sing along to Exsultate Jubilate and Incidental Music to the Tempest as if I;'m in a bathroom

Still working through Semiramide, to be followed by the 1980 recording of Rossini's last opera, William Tell. I have two recordings, one in the original French language with Montserrat Caballé and Nicolai Gedda, and this one in Italian with Mirella Freni and Luciano Pavarotti. The tenor part is famously difficult, with around 30 high C's and C-sharps.

Cheers,

I can't believe it has taken my 15 plus years to buy this.  First listen and I am transfixed.  Is her follow-up solo work just as good?

I have Motherland and Leave Your Sleep, both very good.

You could also try 10,000 Maniacs back catalogue too.

Wow Debs, that is an obscure and very good recording of Lucia di/von Lammermoor! How is the remastering? I've had various luck with the dreaded 24bit/96kHz fad!

Chromatics - Night Drive

Some soundtrack-ish slow disco analogue synths and some suitably languorous vocals. Here's their KB-approved cover of "Running Up That Hill".
