It sounds really good on my little upstairs system, there is a analogue hiss... but this quickly submerses harmlessly into the music.
It's in mono, but who cares?
The music is beautiful, the singing is delightful - they sound like they enjoyed every minute of performing, like a willing enthusiasm, which i think may have been a requisite of Ferenc Fricsay(?) everything he did seems so magically agreeable to me.

So needless to say i'm totally happy with this, and especially as (like i have done) it can be purchased pre-owned for only a few pounds via Amazon UK.
The recording quality may show up more on a more sophisticated audio system, but i don't think this is really a problem, and for the money it's well worth you taking the risk if it's not already in your collection.

Maria Stader sounds fabulous as always! : )
