Daryl Hall & John Oates (passim)

Liking these two in some quarters is almost as bad as admitting to liking Bono or Phil Collins :-) but during the 70s they unleashed a clutch of tremendous singles and some very strong albums to back them up.

My personal favourite is the Todd-producted War Babies. I also love Hall's solo album Sacred Songs - co-produced, co-written and played on by Robert Fripp (who wanted Hall as Crimson's vocalist at one point).

We saw them live at their peak and they were amazingly heavy. Great concert.

Vivaldi's (reconstructed) take on Hercules, with Rolando Villazon well cast as the title hero. The rest of the cast is about the best group of baroque specialists ever assembled for a recording, and Biondi leads with customary fire.

I haven't played this for a while and was prompted in doing so by another post. A truly wonderful album.
