This was given to me as a Christmas present on the year of its release and, curiously, I only ever played the first disc once then put it away and left it. I didn't even play disc two at all. (Maybe this was because of the crappy packaging which put the discs at risk of being scratched simply by removing them from the cardboard sleeve.) This weekend I have had to move some CDs into other storage areas which has anabled a re-evaluation of many albums including this. What a pleasant surprise I have found it to be! Kate has grown up.![]()
It has become one of my favorites.
Played disk 1, while ripping Tull
I love Kate Bush since I first saw her in 'Wuthering Heights' on TopPop when I was a boy

I notice she's a lot taller than he. What do they perform like?
Debs
Hi Debs,
This is in line with Mullova's other recent performances: HIP-proof instruments and performance, but what sounds like modern bow technique. It took her a while to reach her former level, but I find her recent Bach and this Beethoven quite spectacular. Bezuidenhout goes all out on a meaty pianoforte, a good match with Mullova's gut strings.
Now, please don't blame me for saying this, but I actually don't find Beethoven's violin sonatas that interesting - so I am more than happy with this 'best of' selection of nos 3 and 9 (the Kreutzer).
Cheers,
EJ

Thanks. I just listened to the one track on spotify and it sounded interesting. I see they have a track called "Song for Esbjorn". I will look out for them. Do you know if they have any CD's of their music - I can only find MP3's so far.
They have made two cds, but I dont know where to get them. They are unsigned, but try their homepage.

Singing of Bamboos
It's amazing what I sometimes find in my collection. I'll keep this one warm for Lontano's next visit.
All kidding aside, this is a fantastic sounding disc, a sonic delight for me - Chinese water torture for others.

Took the system two days to fully warm up after my vacation but now it's singing like the sweetest bamboo.

Yep. Apparently, The Who declined Antonioni's invitation, so he asked this lot to smash stuff up instead:
Loving Jimmy and Jeff.
