A great performance but I wish they edited out someone coughing almost the whole way through at the concert.

Morcur's compositions are pure genius and Bobby Hutcherson steals the show on vibes.

The 2003 RVG remaster sounds fantastic.

I've been on the lookout for an interpretation of Prokofiev's violin sonatas that doesn't sacrifice tone for quite a while, and the Prokofiev thread started by Debs triggered me to finally get this disc. Quite happy after the first listen: warm, honeyed performances by Gil Shaham and his sister. They don't underplay the first sonata's darkness but avoid the aggressiveness of Kremer/Argerich.

Cheers,

EJ
