I wasn't so keen on this album of Shannons on first listening Jeff.

What do you think?

I am a long time fan of hers.

I finally tracked this down and I could be biased (my sister is principal viola on several of the symphonies) it is a satisfying set of these recordings. The balance especially woodwinds is so different from recordings of larger orchestras such as Klemperer's that comparisons are odious (fortunately).

just aquired this on the 'recent' Simply Vinyl pressing and it is very fine indeed. A little sceptical as I have got some pretty noisy audiophile pressings recently and have become disenchanted with them but this is , as I say, a very fine and quiet pressing.

First listen....... It's certainly different from the last one. More instruments, more textured but with similar vocals. So far not as many songs grab you straight away. Maybe that's a good thing.

This is my first album of hers, I enjoyed it on that first listen.  Will be listening more over the next few weeks.  Do you have a favorite of hers, Ewen ?

I have always enjoyed her first album for Capitol Jukebox Sparrows the best. Love the rhythm textures in it but you might want to try the Live disc North Amercian Ghost music or Geronimo. Either of which I think you may prefer to her first but try them all.

What is it with the recording levels on this one? They're way too low; my poor Nait 5i is at 12 o'clock just to make it audible.
