Shelley Campbell - Blue Ridge Reveille

Follows Shelby Lynne in my iTunes library. Hasn't been played in a while and is a good album to follow up 'Suit Yourself.'

Doug,

Yup, recommended especially if you like his way with Scarlatti. Pletnev gives completely honest, classically poised readings. He does not reach the depths that Brendel gets from these works, but technically makes up for it - his trills need to be heard to be believed.

THis lasted to 1/2 way through track 2, heard it all before and better.

I wasn't too impressed with La Maschera Di Cera either. OK but didn't feel it offered me any thing new.
A bit like PFM OK but lacking that certain something.
This is a really good album, but my favourite Eloy record is Power and the Passion.

On the Grados... which is always fun with Pollini, you can hear him talk/sing/vocalise/hum/snore along with the music and on this recording, it's as if the mikes occasionally picked up some background conversation as well. Get past this, and this is one of the great Diabelli's on disc IMO.
