My fondness for Brahms may sway my opinions but after the first listen I know this album will be among my favourites for the rest of time.  This is a stellar reading and in my opinion the tempos are well judged, if not only marginally slower, in some instances, than what other familiar ensembles seem to deliver.  Fine by me.  It is most noticeable in the Adagios and slow movements but for me the results are natural and the music making is top notch.  Too many outstanding moments throughout to even start listing or pointing out.  My highest admiration to these guys.

Possibly I am just very homesick and itching to get reacquainted with Brahms again.  It has been about six years since working on the B major trio took out my right wrist with an injury; really it was from an unrelated circumstances but it was the Scherzo and over-practice of this trio despite the pain that shut me down.

Once I come back down to earth it will be a certainty that I will have to order the Brahms Violin Sonatas and Piano Quartets and anything else I can find from these guys.
