One of the musical highlights of my day - Beethoven's Cello Sonatas and the A major sonata, in particular.  An incredible piece of music.  Had Beethoven only wrote this one piece I think he would still be one of the greatest composers ever and yet virtually everything he wrote reaches to near utter perfection..

I never read anywhere that "Athens to Athens" was a cover - and it's identical to the "Cherry ball blues" (which is a cover already).

My first dip of the toe into:

And rather enjoying the mature Kate revisiting some of her past personal favourite songs.  Musicians tend to look forward, leaving past work behind.  So it's interesting to hear her reassessment.

One of my favourite Richard Thompson albums, with some superb playing from the Thompson on guitar & the one on bass.

Did anyone here buy 'Collapse into Now'?

I have all their previous albums, but felt they had run out of ideas, I liked the feel of 'Accelerate' but felt they had forgoten to write any songs, I liked some of the songs on the previous couple of albums, but felt they had no energy and were over produced and arranged out of any interest. It is back to 1998's album 'Up' to find a R.E.M. album I like, but I do like most of their output from the 80s and 90s.

Jamie,

I am the same as you.

I have everything they have done and have not bothered with the last two offerings though.

The last thing i bought was the Special Edition Box set 4LP+2CD+DVD live at the Olympia Dublin 39 songs.

It gets a lot of play.
