Hi Adrian, There's waaay more going on with BoC records than first meets the ears. Read up on them somewhere, and you'll see what I mean. (Like Dean, I also think Geogaddi is an even better album, btw.)

Really enjoying these atmospherics/soundscapes. If you like Eno, Arve Henriksen and some of the more experimental ECM, this could be for you.

The recent Sundazed pressing is really good Karl. I have the MFSL vinyl as well and while it's a clean pressing, Harvey Brooks' bass is too far back in the mix.

I also have an original USA Columbia pressing. Bought it on eBay although it's not mint. Cleaning it improved it a lot ... Oh for a 'minter' of that pressing!

This was the first stereo record that my late father purchased when he bought the first family stereogram ... The HMV Stereomaster

Problem is that when he went out to buy our first stereophonic record, he came back with a mono copy, which I have to this day. I eventually found a really nice copy of the Decca Phase4 version on eBay.

This XRCD version sounds wonderful ... So much better than either the mono or stereo vinyl. I bought a copy of it on eBay from a seller in Japan.

Whenever I play the XRCD version, not only do I enjoy the quality of the disc and the music, it brings back many happy memories of early experiences with stereo sound.

The next record that my father bought was Decca's 'A Jounrey Into Stereophonic Sound'. Unsurprisingly they didn't press that one in mono! It has been released on CD but it's hard to find and copies that do come up are not cheap. Not a problem ... The original vinyl disc is still is excellent condition.

After that came 'Battle Stereo' ... But that's another story.

Sorry Haim Winker
Is it the music or the playing? For myself, I know that it is both. This is a fantastic debut album. Proof yet again that their is no shortage of younger pianist who can maybe even teach some of the old dogs some new tricks too.

My father's first stereo unit - Zenith console, the speakers are behind the slats and they can be closed when not used to give it the furniture look needed back then.

First two albums I remember playing in stereo:

This was my way of entry into this music, but it only gets spun once in a while. More often than not, I now reach for the Lenya versions on CBS. I find Lemper a bit too neutral, even if she wins on the visual side. I can't imagine her as Rosa Klebb!
