I'm really liking it too. quite different production on this one and interesting variety of singers. I'd like to hear them play with Boris.

Mirrored was a bit more austere and the 'pinky and perky' vocals took a bit of getting used to - still a good album though.

Yes he is brilliant live.

What was the work shop like?

I only went to the evening concert, so can not comment on the workshop.

Really glad I went, he is a stunning guitar player!!

Thanks for the recommendation Stu, wish I had seen it earlier, I have just ordered 'Dedicato' on vinyl from Naim.

 

I would have bought something on the night but they only had CD's, and he was signing them!!

Much as I realise musical taste is subjective, I have never heard a finer singer than Shirley Collins and given the enchanting arrangements I cannot believe there are many better albums to listen to than those made by Shirley and her late sister Dolly when they were at their peak. This music is timeless and captures views of an England that has long since faded away. I doubt in reality it was ever as idyllic as some of these old folk songs portray though others are about the harsher side such as the press gang gathering people to fight in the Napoleonic wars.
