Still Lontano LOUD black stuff.
In attempt to slow down the tornado alerts.
Doug,
How does it compare to Eguez playing Weiss on MA?
Haim, both are fine Lutenists but the distinction can be noted in a different approach to recording and possibly that the instruments themselves are different sounding to some extent. The only work shared on these recordings is the Tombeau sur la Mort de Mr. Comte de Logy and this happens to be a favourite work of mine so my comments will apply solely to this work. I find the Lindberg recording to be softer in nature and the individual tones of each note seem to be more focused. The sound gently comes out and fills the space and the bass as well projects distinctly and uniquely below the higher voices. With the Eguez, the recording feels a lot closer to the instrument and consequently you experience much more of the interaction of the instrument as if you were fingering and playing this yourself.
A very practical evening for me. First, some gardening music...
...and now some hearty music food to nourish my ear palate while I eat.

Doug,
Thanks for the info. I think that the acoustics of the hall always play a large role in Garfinkle's recordings.
Les Plaisirs du Palais is a disc I have not listened to for years. I am going downstairs to get it right now.
I have and love both of this mans albums.
It seems Linn Records now have him and are doing a High Res download of this album.
It should be worth a punt as the original cd is fantastic and does not suffer from any LOUDNESS WARS.
