I'm really digging this album ... fantastic playing, singing, arrangements, song selection, production ... joyous, sexy, life-affirming music from a master musician from Brazil:

Janis Ian: Afterones

I prefer this album over her mega hit 'Between the Lines'.

Fred,

I should check out Elias' new CD. I haven't followed up since The Three Americas.

Call me a wimp but I like the clarity this pianoforte recording brings to the last sonatas. I've added Lubimov's CD of Schubert Impromptus to my wishlist on the strength of this recording.

Droodzilla, I am glad to see you enjoyed the Lubimov, Beethoven.  I have him on my wishlist and will order this soon.

As for the Bacewicz, I suppose it will depend entirely on your musical tolerance.  I am not usually fond of 20th century music per se, especially the hardcore stuff so I wasn't sure about this recording but my curiosity finally got to me.   Yes, very definitely mid-20th century music but it does have a small toe connecting it to late romantics/early 20th century, it seems.  All in all, after the first listen, I found this recording to be of interest and it will get many more listens.  I especially enjoyed the Quintets.
