Now this.

Did this band ever make a bad album?

If they did?

I have not heard it.

Gert-Jan,

If you liked it?

Try this  CD and if you play vinyl? You can still get it on 180g double from burningshed.

Its one of my most played Porcupine Tree albums on cd and vinyl.

Thanks Stu.

I went for an original UK cd copy on the Delerium label. The vinyl on that label goes for silly money, (check out eBay) so I might have a look at Burning Shed, which I believe is on white vinyl. Is that correct?

George.

This has different versions of some of their most famous stuff and some material not on the regular records - quite honestly if you like all their standard records then you'll adore this. Thoroughly recommended - a great band with the wonderful Grace Slick in full cry.

George,

My double vinyl is white and a stonking pressing.

I am not sure if they are all white though?

Do check out the vinyl on burningshed though while its still there.

I bought the cd many years ago with the same cover artwork and thats silver

There are a lot of copies about with your cover artwork on sites,

Haven't played this super record for a while; still sounds as good as ever - stand out track is Phil Lesh's Unbroken Chain even if his vocals are a bit weak.

You come up top trumps again, and cost me more money.

I can remember the first time i heard a Grace solo album.

1981 Geoff at SoundCraft in Ashford was setting up the new at the time, Maridian choch box pre amp with the bigger of the two active speakers.

He put the album on the LP12 and we sat back and listened.

He put a Mr&Mrs Thomson album on after that.

I went sraight up the record shop and bought both.

The very best Jefferson Airplane/Starship album for me is Baron Von Tolbooth & The Chrome Num, but all the JA ones are pretty good even they ones that get slated like Bark (I've still got the dustbin bag that came with it and the instructions telling what I could do with it; I ignored those). Grace has always been a favourite of mine. Her solo albums are pretty good even if over produced at times.

Anyways now listening to this .... better than I thought it would be.

Jerry's guitar sounds terrific, Pigpen's vocals don't.

Its a funny or not thing?

I have never been a great fan of the Dead,Same goes for CCWR,

Two bands that have never done it for me.

I have tried over the last 40 years? but to me they are bland.

If i had to pick one of the two?

The Dead are better than CCWR imo but only because they have a million albums to choose from.

What a pity, Doug, since they are so good. On the positive side, their absence might slow down your new music purchasing ventures...
