Mendelssohn Klaviertrios

Schweizer Klaviertrio

As in most of the Piano Trio repertoire, the pianist really has to sweat the most.  But with Mendelssohn it isn't the same sweat as with Beethoven or Brahms, for instance.   It is basically hang on and hope your shear adrenaline lasts and keeps going.  It is so fast mostly that you simply can't dig into the keys very much but basically can only gloss over the keys.  No time for your mind to wonder either, for if it does, you are hooped and it comes crashing down in a split second.

A fine, well balanced recording that I like very much.

The Mandelring Quartett - probably my favourite ensemble at the moment.  Exceptional playing and recording quality to die for.

The female vocals resonate spooky in places,

so alluring i needed to play it twice : )

Decca have done a marvelous quality and depth job with the original recording too.
