Bach's great music for solo violin, played by one of the most exciting and imaginative baroque violin specialists around and given a wonderful recording. The sum is as great as the parts in this case.

Cheers,

EJ

Doug, I have this 1968 recording in its original CD edition. For once they improved the presentation...

Agree on the very high quality of Handel's chamber music.

I've enjoyed working my way through this jazz box set over the last couple of weeks:

And have listened to the last two CDs this morning:

I wasn't expecting to like either very much, as I prefer my jazz on the adventurous side, but the quality of the musicianship shines through on both these CDs. A very pleasant surprise. And yes, in case you're wondering, the Carmen McRae CD does indeed set lyrics to a clutch of Monk standards - and it works.

If you're looking to explore jazz, the Perfect Jazz Collection boxes (volumes 1 and 2) are very nicely produced and feature an interesting mix of music. Either would be a great place to start.

Regards

Nigel

On Silver

On the Black!

kk, made a mistake on that last post it's on Speakers Corner 180

not Music on Vinyl!

On Original Black!

On the Original Black!

Just compared it to the Back to Black !80g copy  ,no comparison the 180g seems muffled & lifeless with

poor dynamics, whereas the original shines through the static!
