Imagine if you can a cross between Renaissance and Iron Maiden and add a bit of the spirit of Finland and you have the sound of symphonic power metal (a genre beyond iTunes default). I have no hesitation in pronouncing Nightwish the best  symphonic power metal band I've heard.

 

 

If you ever imagined what Cathedral might sound like with some orchestral backing then look no further. It is sort of Lloyd Webber meets Thin Lizzy ... it's well try it yourself you'll hate love it.

This has a variety of styles and takes a few listens to get into. I like it more and more with each listen.

 

Have a listen to the excerpts on amazon.
