Martha Argerich is probably the most duplicated artist in my collection.  When I can't decide this one with a bit of this and a bit of that usually gives me some ideas.

That reminded me of this...

I am thinking of childhood now.  Schumann's Album für die Jugend (Album for the Young) is a set of 43 miniatures set in order of difficulty.  Often overlooked behind all his major works but anyone who grew up studying piano would for sure be familiar with at least a few of the gems in this Op. 68 set.  Written for Schumann's daughter Marie and for her seventh birthday which is the same age as my son is now.

Doug,

This was my first Maisky disc and still is one of my favorites of his work.

On the black stuff in German.

Wow this recording is an amazing experience! Khovanshchina has a similar scale as Boris Godunov and likewise deals with national history, but sounds entirely different. This is a live recording from a famous Vienna production in the 80s, with some minor audience interaction but otherwise great sound.

Cheers,

EJ
