Hi Pat

FYI, they are working on a new album,  and Jenny, Nate, and Chris along with Scott McGaughey (Fresh Fellows, REM) and Peter Buck (REM) will be the backing band for John Wesley Harding on his fall tour.  The Decemberists are on long term hiatus so Jenny, Nate and Chris will be doing lots of cool stuff outside that vehicle.

It is about both an "old" and a "new" recording of Beethoven's "Fidelio".

Hope that link works and meets NAIM criteria.

be well

Thanks Jeff, grateful for the link. The author's comparison is apt, Vickers is exactly the tenor I'm reminded of when I hear Kaufmann. I haven't got around to the new Fidelio, more in a Verdi mood at the moment. It's an opera that does not have many really successful recordings, so look forward to hearing it.

Cheers,

EJ

John Hiatt and the Goners "Beneath This Gruff Exterior"

Saw a show on the tour supporting this release.  On the very first song, Sonny Landreth played a fill that was just mesmerizing.  He had my full attention for the remainder of the show.
