Sung very melancholy accompanied with the darkest keys of a piano or strummed guitar.

A fascinating singer who can perform soul wrenching emotion.

Although i like this a lot, i have a inkling most would hate it : )

A new release of a Roland Hanna disc on the IPO label. I discovered the late Hanna only this year and already own five wonderful solo piano albums of his.

EJ,

How is it? I love his Italian Concertos disc.

Haim

Hi Haim,

Must confess I was slightly disappointed with his last Chopin album, but he's back on form here. He takes his piano wholeheartedly into Bach territory, and first impression is a good blend of the romantic and authentic Bach. Great playing and sound, no supercharged faster-than-fast interpretation, and also less extreme than his Scarlatti. I haven't heard his Italian Concertos, so can't compare.

Definitely a keeper, and now on the lookout for other recommended versions to compare!

Cheers,

EJ

EJ,

Thanks. It might be interesting to compare Tharaud's playing of Bach's Keyboard Concertos to David Fray's:

I have no problems with Tharaud's latest Chopin. My disappointment was with his Rameau disc where I found his piano to be a little flat. I much prefer Hewitt's Rameau.

Regards,

Haim
