I don't think my better half enjoys my TW sessions either.

Fall - my favourite season.  With the leaves mostly on the ground now I wonder, as I do every year, why does it have to pass by so quickly.

"Jazz Record Requests," on Radio Three. At last I have a set that is fine enough to make Jazz enjoyable! I predict a great widening of the genres of music that will be enjoyable now! I could enjoy the classics on 1920s headphones or an acoustic gramophone! ESL 57s are marvelous at the upright [orchestral] double bass as played in Jazz. As I used to play the bass to a professional standard, and replay of the instrument in Jazz always previously seemed painfully off beam with conventional speakers - except multi-thousand pound types that I could not afford! The ESLs are so fast that they are totally present, but also totally articulate. In fact as articulate and pitched as any replay I have ever heard, and close enough to real that there is no bar to smiling at the precision of the playing as much as the music - some of it is grand and some mystifying! Okay, maybe I should give some credit to the resy of the band, but the advantages of the old 57s are less marked away from the acoustic bass for Jazz! Normal speakers often do the mid and upper voices well enough. It is on the bass that they go wrong!

So something off the wall for me this evening!
