Denis,

I will join you with this.

You never did get around to telling me about the Fink gig?

Two of my favourite musical creations from Ravel, Gaspard De La Nuit and Miroirs, played to perfection by Nojima on this wonderful recording.

Stu,

It was my spiritual musical namesake from Portland who played this , but...

I must say, out of all the gigs I've been to this year it was disappointing, as was Lamb & Thomas Dolby. I think Fin has been a bit overawed by his success, which may have been unexpected for him. I overheard him speaking after the gig @ Union Chapel and he spoke of it beeing a wonderful venue (it is) and he was so pleased to have played there. When you have created music that has a similar tempo, you need a stage presence and his band doesn't! They play the tunes very well but there is little 'Spark'. I fealt exactly the same a few years ago when I saw David Sylvian (w/band) & PJ Harvey (solo). In fact at both gigs I nearly fell asleep . The mitigating circumstance for Fink may have been seeing the totally amazing Todd Rundgren the night before, who used his 40+ years experience to work the crowd. In my mind I was singing so much in tune with Todd's melody's & medley's, I should have been a backing singer

Hope you keeping well

Denis,

Thanks for that write up.

Imo Todd on his own or with a band is a hard act to follow.
