Monteverdi's last opera, l'incoronazione di poppea, in Gardiner's sparsely orchestrated but highly recommended recording - if only to hear Von Otter in her prime, in music she was borne to sing.

Jumping more than two centuries to Puccini's last (unfinished) opera, in the famous 50s (early stereo) recording with the dream lineup of Jussi Björling, Birgit Nilsson and Renata Tebaldi. The sound is slightly dry and not on the level that Decca managed at the time, but very listenable.
Cheers,
EJ

On the black stuff.

Siouxsie still looks good if not better? in her 50's imo.

Lots of good stuff at chez MileSmile, earlier today, including and amazing example of what a room can do to the sound.
I'm afraid I forgot 90% of what was played, but good Miles playlist with orchestral and jazz filtered out (almost). Some Queen and Dire Straits, I do remember, also my Robert Randolph disc has awful SQ.
Most enjoyable day many thanks again.
