It really is better that the remastered version I had already. Much clearer and with more depth and detail.

Listened to Vol.1 straight through. Besides the playing, which is of exceptional technical quality and interpretatively at times brilliant, I was amazed to find how clearly the effect of the middle pedal (sostenuto pedal) is heard here.

Now onto Volume 2, which includes the images, études and children's corner.

To top off a great evening of music: Strauss' Four Last Songs. This recording didn't score high marks with critics, but I like Nina Stemme - the most interesting dramatic soprano since Eva Marton and Hildegard Behrens.

Cheers,

Ayup munchie,

Thanks for taking the time to post that one.

I recognised the cover and read a review for it a couple of weeks ago (at RA, I think). Maybe not for me, though JamieL_v2 might snap it up if he hasn't got it already if you mention the words 'tangerine' and 'dream' to him.

Tks,

CC

(PS I'm guessing you don't want to hear another 'I don't like HMV' story, right? : ) )

To be honest, I do have a love/hate relationship with Mozart (excepting the Piano Concertos/Piano Sonatas).  I have a natural affinity with most composers but there is no middle ground with Mozart.  Sometimes our personalities simply do not see eye to eye.  When it works though, it simply is sublime.  The adagio from the A-major Piano Concerto is one movement that grabs me and I can spend days with it on the piano or listening.
