Been looking for some great Jazz singers lately.
I think Diana Krall is nice, but a bit commercial.
Katie Melua is too sweet sounding (girly).
Norah Jones' CD I have is copy-protected, so it's become a no-no, though I like her a lot.
Madeleine Peyroux sounds a bit too dark and laid back for me.
Joni Mitchell is great, but a little depressing at times.
Don't know Melody Gardot enough, but seems OK.

And then there's Patricia Barber: exciting, articulate, gripping voice and singingtalent.
With excellent musical skills.

I like!

Another of my copy cat purchases - really quite liking this when I get past the first track.

A brilliant album from a group imo at the peak of their powers.

Karl

A collegue told me the same, so had to listen in and put on the list afterwards Smile

As you may be aware this album is basically the live version of the 'Machine Head' album, one of the first records I bought way back in 1977 (and imo the finest Heavy Rock album ever). There is also a 3 disc set of all three Japan concerts called 'Live in Japan' but I think this is nla.

Enjoy,

Karl

This is one of my favorites mixes. Diverse, laid back and adventurous. Highly recommend....

There are also Christy Baron (beautiful), Jane Monheit(sultry), Stacey Kent(haven't listened to her a lot)... can't remember any more just now - at least no pure jazz singers.

Perahia's rather brilliant take on Schumann's flawed but intriguing 1st sonata. Autographed.
