You don't want to know, have never seen this one show up with a reasonable price tag.

Hi EJ,
What's flawed about this work? I happen to really like this Sonata.... Confused

Thanks for the reminder. I bought the following double LP, which contains both the Quintet and Trio performances from the concert, quite a while ago.

Not played it for ages...... but soon to be rectified!

Cheers,

Sounding so much better with the Lingo3!! Big Grin

Been looking for some great Jazz singers lately.
I think Diana Krall is nice, but a bit commercial.
Katie Melua is too sweet sounding (girly).
Norah Jones' CD I have is copy-protected, so it's become a no-no, though I like her a lot.
Madeleine Peyroux sounds a bit too dark and laid back for me.
Joni Mitchell is great, but a little depressing at times.
Don't know Melody Gardot enough, but seems OK.

And then there's Patricia Barber: exciting, articulate, gripping voice and singingtalent.
With excellent musical skills.

I like!

There are also Christy Baron (beautiful), Jane Monheit(sultry), Stacey Kent(haven't listened to her a lot)... can't remember any more just now - at least no pure jazz singers.

It could be that I'm just not in the right mood, but these singers don't seem to do it for me.
I mean I can only find 'Ain't no Sunshine' by Christy, but I'm sure Miss (or Misses?) Barber will top that performance any time.
I went through some tracks of 'Breakfast on the Morning Tram' and went mourning and as for Jane, I just don't know.
Of course this is all at this moment, but I reckon reasons for cheering for Patricia Barber are the same as to why I cheer for Ozark Henry and Jeff Buckley: they give a gripping performance and I like Patricia's 'controlled' voice. Hard to describe...

Meridth Brooks - "Blurring the Edges". The CD can be picked up from you know where s/h for 99p +p&p. I think this is her "seminal" work from her wikipedia discography but I haven't heard anything else by her.

More rock orientated than Alannis Morrisette, but more substance and less teenage angst pop than Avril Lavigne. Please don't let any reference to Avril Lavigne put you off trying it.

You will recognize the track "Bitch" when you here it.

If this is her only album, than I think it was because, while touring, she got stabbed in the face with a broken bottle by a huge... 'Fan'...

Listening now on Grooveshark...
Powerfull!
And I saw some more albums she made

And I can't seem to find any reference to the stabbing-story... (rumor?)
