Perahia's rather brilliant take on Schumann's flawed but intriguing 1st sonata. Autographed.
EJ
Hi EJ,
What's flawed about this work? I happen to really like this Sonata....
Regards,
Doug
Hi Doug,
Shouldn't have used the term 'flawed' - it is a work of genius. But it takes a special type of performer to make sense of the 3rd and particularly the 4th movement. I've never heard it better than on this disc. One of Perahia's finest achievements!

Couldn't resist and connected the iPad with the Camera Connection Kit and USB-cable to the Onkyo, Coax from there to CA DacMagic and through Supra EFF-I into MF M1 HPA and straight through the Shure's into my head.
I'd say it's even better than the laptop.
Now is the time to wish I bought more storage than a GPS for the money...

Following EJ on this. Haven't listened to this one for about a year and am glad for the little remind. I agree EJ, a great album and of course, Perahia has never let me down.
Regards,
Doug

Haim, I'm glad you remembered that on Wednesday's you only listen to artists that look or face to the right and I always listen to artists that look or face to the left.

Sorry if i've made any errors with the venue and dates, sleeve-notes small-print are not the easiest read for my hazy eyesight but at least my ears are okay, it fascinates me how long ago this this was recorded with super close and embracing real oomph piano sound. SK is great, and i'm proud to have this in my collection.
Thank you EJ, and Karl for the heads up on this superb set.
I wish i wasn't so tired right now... although no matter, can enjoy this even more another time after a good sleep : )

Following Haim. A very individual interpretation by one of today's most promising young pianists.

Hi Debs,
Have fun - hope your real CD player's fixed or are you still on survival mode with the yamakai?

Hi EJ
i'm using a Yamaha midi-sided cd player (oddly enough called a ‘CDX’-10)
When new in 1999 it sounded rather disappointing... but after getting breathed on by a clever engineer it now sounds very acceptable.
I do miss the CDI though : (
