Do you like this recording? After my enjoyment of Immerseel leading the Beethoven Symphonies, I would say he is like the musical giants of the past! The "Bolero" is such an enigma, and fascinating as such!

ATB from George

PS: If you could post the running time for "Bolero" it would give an idea of how "individual" is the reading. I suspect it may be veering towards twenty minutes, if my feelings about Immerseel "the artist musician" are correct. The tempo that brings out the full power of the music, even defying the fashion. His Beethoven is fiery and fast, but I would bet his "Bolero" would be majesterial and incredibly imposing, and slow ...

Hi George, yes I do like it.

Running time is 17:02. I read that this is regarded as most Ravel like in as much as they used his score and metronome settings ie crotchet = 66 FWTW.
Contemporary instruments are used too.

I'm not a huge "classical" fan , but have a few works I dip in and out of.

Bolero I find fascinating and love the continuous growing of this piece (very prog) Smile

Like a lot of rock based guys , there is more classical music I know by ear but don't know the titles to follow them up, I tend to rely on credits at the end of films and TV programmes, for anything less well known.

Glad I'm not a member. Do you really listen to this noise for pleasure? Smile

Or is some form of aversion therapy?

Yes, but you have to be in the right mood for all this intense musical voluptuousness.
