I treated a friend last night to the CD that had all the short movies on the records, had a great time talking about details in them like their clothes, hair and the Moog Synthesizer. Then I played the first CD of their singles, several of those I'd not heard. I wanted to get to the second one where at the end they do those strange songs like "You know My Name" . I'm not worried about buying the vinyl set, it just isn't in the plan.
We tired out and I switched to a DVD of artist Andy Goldworthy, one of my favorite artists and it was a wonderful peaceful end to the evening with great visuals. I realized I'd missed my chance to be a ground breaking artist back in the 60s as a teen wandering thru woods and playing with water, snow and plants. I coulda been in the art history books.

Would it be a silly question to ask what is the point of this box set is - having bought the remastered stero box set why would you need this one?
Just asking?

Thanks Munch - thought as much.........
I guess the industry is going to milk the cd format before it is replaced by gazillion bit rate sound for streamers and dacs etc......
Oh well best to embrace the future and limit buying all the remasters that are about - if only I could help my self!

I haven't bought the big box set but might buy this one as it has all the good albums in it.

It is also just the middle period which was a very magical period for their song writing and studio work. When the white album came out they changed yet again. I find the arc of their career and song writing amazing but there are pairs of albums like Pepper and MMT.
I'm sure that 5 years or so they'll have HiDef versions for sale.

and Magical Mystery Tour
and .... Help, Hard Day's Night and lots of others
however, I prefer Let It Be ... Naked and the newer version of Yellow Submarine that was released a few years back to the originals.
